The meeting of Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has decided to summon the chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and its officials on Sunday to discuss the anti-graft’s role in disrupting the medical exams at the KU and other issues concerning medical education sector. In a meeting that lasted around 3 hours with with the officials of the Kathmandu University (KU), most lawmakers had demanded summoning CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki and other officials, arguing that a decision could not be taken without first discussing the issues with them. “We’ve decided to summon CIAA chief and officials for discussion,” MP Amanlal Modi told Setopati following the committee’s meeting. “We concluded that it was not possible to get the in-depth picture by consulting with the KU officials only.” Lawmakers Akwal Ahamad Saha, Amanlal Modi, Narayan Prakash Saud, Mahesh Acharya, Sushila Nepal, Milan Kumari Rajbanshi, Harkabol Rai, Kripasur Sherpa, Ambar Bahadur Thapa among others had demanded holding discussions on the irregularities in the MBBS entrance examination conducted by the Kathmandu University by calling the CIAA officials to the committee meeting.
